Fred Gegare
Division Director
The Food Processing Division consists of tens of thousands of Teamsters across the United States—these workers make a huge difference in all our lives, carefully preparing and processing a wide range of foods, including meats, vegetables, fruits and grains.

The hardworking, skilled food processing workers know that when the job needs to be done the right way, it is done by professionals—the Teamsters. And the Food Processing Division works to ensure that employers meet their commitments to Teamsters-represented members. The division is committed to:

  • Increasing the overall numbers of members to bring strength to the division;
  • Negotiating multi-area Food Processing agreements;
  • Raising wages, benefits and other conditions of employment;
  • Protecting Teamster jobs by resolving grievances and disputes that may arise between employees and employers;
  • Devising and implementing a strong agreements for seasonal as well as full-time employees; and
  • Enforcing and improving safety standards in all types of food processing facilities.

One of the newest divisions in the Teamsters Union, the Food Processing Division became distinct in early 2003 with an emphasis on organizing new workers and strengthening current contracts. Activities and affairs of the Food Processing Division are coordinated daily with regional representatives.
