Teamsters Tackle Corporate Governance

Corporate governance directly impacts the lives of all working people. It impacts our working conditions, our salaries, our benefits, and our job security. The Office of Capital Strategies monitors companies by examining and researching corporate governance, executive pay, board of directors accountability, stock trends and financial performance. Our goal is to work with Teamsters local unions and members to become more active as shareholders.

  • Serve as a corporate watchdog by monitoring the actions of corporations and government oversight agencies, engaging in debates on how corporations are governed and releasing reports.

  • Provide a voice for Teamster member stockholders and Teamster pension plans that seek reform at the corporate level.

  • Promote shareholder activism to help Teamster members take a more active role in corporate decision-making.

  • Present shareholder resolutions on behalf of Teamster pension funds to improve corporate governance.

  • Help Teamster members draft proposals to improve corporate governance and corporate procedural matters.
