The IBT Department for Retiree Affairs was
established in 1983 to create a closer bond among all retired Teamsters. The
Department is dedicated to meeting the needs of all retired Teamsters and is
consistently working to improve and enhance affordable programs and services
for our retirees. The director of the
department is Edgar A. Scribner, and the department can be reached at
202-624-8950.
The Department encourages members of the
Teamsters Retiree Clubs to support and participate in contract and
organizing campaigns in their area. In conjunction with the IBT Government
Affairs Department and DRIVE, the Retiree Affairs Department strives to
influence policy makers at the national level on issues affecting both
active and retired Teamsters.
Teamsters
Retiree Clubs/Chapters
There are more than 275 Teamsters Retiree
Clubs/Chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Each Club is a
separate entity affiliated with and chartered through the Department for
Retiree Affairs. Their goal is to achieve the objectives set forth in the
Department for Retiree Affairs, Constitution and Bylaws and Affiliation
Charter.
Teamsters Retiree Clubs/Chapters have
formed a united front for the preservation of the ideals of trade unionism
and to protect, preserve and improve the social and economic status of
retirees. Teamsters Retiree Clubs/Chapters are an important segment of the
Teamsters. The Retiree Clubs are of tremendous value to the working members
and contribute to the unity, growth and strength of our Union. Joining a
Teamsters Retiree Club will enrich your retirement years by keeping you
actively involved with your Union.
